Uma Ventures is thrilled to announce our investment in Super Powers Mobility (SPM), a pioneering startup developing the most reliable electric off-road vehicles for both military and civilian applications.
SPM is redefining the off-road vehicle industry with its bespoke electric powertrain solutions, purpose-built for utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) and scalable for use on larger vehicles. Unlike previous OEM and DIY efforts that relied on repurposed automotive or motorcycle components, SPM’s proprietary powertrain delivers a market-leading power-to-weight ratio and is engineered specifically for the unique demands of UTVs.
“At SPM, we’re harnessing our racing heritage and engineering expertise to set a new standard for electric off-road vehicles. By building powertrains from the ground up for both military and civilian UTVs, we’re delivering the kind of performance, reliability, and adaptability that simply didn’t exist before. We’re excited to partner with Uma Ventures to accelerate this transformation and bring next-generation mobility to riders everywhere.”
– Jonathan Powers, Founder & CEO, Super Powers Mobility
Founded by Jonathan Powers —a former Tesla engineer who contributed to the Cybertruck program and a professional off-road racer—SPM brings together deep technical expertise and hands-on racing experience. Jonathan’s lifelong passion for automotive innovation and over a decade of UTV racing have driven him to upgrade and optimize every aspect of his vehicles. Recognizing a gap in the market, he set out to build an electric powertrain that delivers 50% more horsepower and an impressive 220% increase in torque compared to legacy OEM offerings.
“SPM’s unique blend of engineering and racing expertise is setting a new benchmark for electric off-road vehicles. We’re excited to support their mission to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions for both military and civilian use.”
– Ash Shrivastav, Uma Ventures
SPM’s universal high-voltage conversion kit (patent pending) is designed to electrify the global fleet of UTVs—over 5 million vehicles—by offering a scalable, rugged solution compatible with most models. The company’s intellectual property spans from integration methods for its EV-Kit, a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack, to advanced embedded controls software, ensuring durability and performance in the harshest environments.

Jonathan’s competitive edge as a racer—consistently outperforming better-funded rivals through skill and strategy—mirrors SPM’s mission to lead the electrification of off-road vehicles as the fan favorite underdog.
SPM is poised to fill a critical gap in the rapidly expanding UTV industry, providing a pathway for both new and existing vehicles to transition to electric power. We look forward to supporting SPM as they carve out a leadership position in the electric off-road vehicle market.
